Keystone Inspection Service offers both total bacteriological and comprehensive water testing. Most mortgage companies only require the total coliform bacteria water test, however if you are financing either FHA or VA they may require a comprehensive water scan as well. You can also request the comprehensive water test for your “own Knowledge”.
The comprehensive water test includes testing for bacteria as well as: | |
| Hardness (CaCo3) | can cause mineral deposits in water heaters and pipes, plus film on sinks and bathtubs. |
| pH (electrometric potential) | water with pH less than 6.5 or greater than 8.0 can cause corrosion problems in plumbing, reduce flow and eventually clogging shut. |
| Iron | gives water a metallic taste, stains clothing, sinks, bathtubs, etc. |
| Lead | health effects include: reduced mental capacity, interference with kidney and neurological functions, and hearing loss. |
| Nitrate as (NO3) and Nitrite-N |
excessive concentrations can cause methmoglobinemia (blue baby syndrome) |
| Conductivity | measurement of dissolved inorganic material in water. May have health effects and can cause an objectionable mineral taste. |
