What is Radon?

Radon is a radioactive gas formed from decaying uranium and radium found in soil and rocks. Radon is invisible, colorless, tasteless, and odorless. The only way to detect radon in your home is to have the house tested.

Why be concerned about radon?

When you breathe air containing radon, you increase your risk of getting lung cancer. In fact, the Surgeon General has warned that Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States today. If you smoke and your home has high radon levels, your risk of lung cancer is especially high.

How is the house tested for Radon?

There are several methods of radon testing available. KEYSTONE INSPECTION SERVICE uses primarily the E-Perm or 48 Hr. Continuous Monitor for the short term measurement of radon. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) lists both these methods as the most accurate and reliable radon testing methodology currently available.
